Secondary Transfer

Every year, children from St Luke’s CE School move on to many different secondary schools – community, voluntary-aided and independent – both within the borough of Camden and further afield.

Each September, parents of the new Year 6 children will receive information from their local authority about open evenings in the local secondary schools.

Camden Secondary Schools Guide

The transition from primary education to secondary education can be a stressful time for both parents and children and it’s important to us that we limit the disruption as much as possible and make the switch as easy and as relaxed as we can.

Each year the Head of School holds an informal meeting to talk through the process of transfer to secondary school with Year 5 parents and remains available for advice throughout the application process.

Parents who wish to consider a selective state school for their child are reminded of the need to apply for the selection tests in the Summer term of Year 5.

In addition, parents are also invited to meetings with the ‘Meet the Parents’, an organisation set up to give primary school parents the opportunity to meet parents and pupils from local secondary schools and discuss their experiences there. These are held at our partner school, Hampstead Parochial.
